Helping others, preparing kids for the real world, and caring for the environment are all key objectives here at La Cueva High School. On Campus Jobs, a class for special education students, helps to accomplish all of those.

One of its teachers is Staci Blanc. “In this class it helps with everything to do with jobs, Social skills, asking for help, Job pace, and teamwork,” she said. “This class helps Special Ed students practice all of these principles.

Students do various activities such as practicing job interviews and filling out job applications. They also work on occupational skills, job reports, and other activities.

Senior Matthew Holguin’s favorite job to do is stock the DECA snack bar.

They make teachers coffee, shop for groceries for teachers, run the Bear Essentials store, do laundry for the nurses, recycle paper, and clean tables in the concourse.

The work keeps students busy each day of the week, and they also learn aspects of professionalism, such as showing courtesy. Students grade themselves on how well they do jobs.
